Upcoming Chicago tech events (April 1, 2007 edition)
First of all, these are actual events. This is not an April Fools edition. :)
April 4, 2007: IT Roadmap: Chicago
Summarized by their tagline: “1 day, 8 tracks, 40 all-stars, analysts, vendors, and you — with a passport to explore it all free.” So yes, it’s free. Can’t go wrong with that.
April 6-7, 2007: Flourish Open Source Career Conference
Held at UIC’s East campus, it’s sponsed by Google and the Free Software Foundation (among others). Speakers from Drupal, Red Hat, Google, IBM, and others. Could be very cool!
April 4, 2007: Start Your Own Business Workshop
“If you are exploring the idea of starting your own business, this workshop helps you plan your next steps and puts your feet firmly on the path to success.” Put on by the CEC. And it’s free, too.
April 9, 2007: Illini-TEC Forum of Chicago
Put on by the University of Illinois Technology Entrepreneur Center, this event will feature panelists from Motorola, ADM, Accenture, and Innovation Management Partners. $12.
April 11, 2007: Great Chicago Networking Extravaganza
$50 gets you into Jason Jacobsohn’s event at the Mid-America Club for some high-level schmoozing and networking.
April 12, 2007: 2007 ITA CityLIGHTS Awards Gala
Awards gala at the Drake in its 8th year. $225 per ticket. “Black tie optional” means don’t-be-the-guy-not-wearing-a-tux. (Friendly fashion tip from WindyBits.)
April 12, 2007: TECH cocktail 4
The favorite quarterly tech gathering reached its 500 RSVP limit in under 24 hours, so if you didn’t RSVP right away, you’re probably not going. Something tells me the 2.5 hour open bar had something to do with the popularity. Event is free. Email Eric or Frank and beg them for a slot.
